Schools & Gardens

In 2012 I made Friendship Seating for the Western Isles Schools Project, for five schools and gardens which had recently been rebuilt in the Outer Hebrides. The initial designs were made by the pupils.

All the pieces of furniture were made in the workshop and finished with coloured wood stain. Then everything was dismantled and very carefully loaded into a van for the journey to the Western Isles. We had a very good crossing and as soon as we arrived we got on with unloading and reassembling the furniture for the first school. It took a few days to go round all the schools setting up the tables and benches. The teachers and pupils were all very pleased at seeing their designs realised and ready for outdoor lessons.

More schools and gardens

Pupils have also produced designs at other schools for signs for orchards, flower gardens and outdoor spaces… and some adventurous designs for Friendship Seating. The friendship seating is made in Douglas fir with pressure treated feet and legs for durability.
